6-step hand washing intervention in family nursing care with self-care deficit

Abstract

The phenomenon of self-care deficit in the family of Mr. H aged 38 years in Dusun Tebon, Sidoluhur, Godean,
Yogyakarta is the focus of this study. The purpose of the study was to understand the 6-step handwashing, the
purpose of 6-step handwashing, and the steps of 6-step handwashing. used was a qualitative approach with a
descriptive case study design through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of family
nursing care with interview, observation and documentation techniques. showed that Mr. H's family did not know
how to wash their hands in 6 steps, sometimes An.H after traveling never washed their hands in 6 steps. Mr. H's
family only washed them with wet wipes and the 6-step handwashing intervention that made Mr. H and An. A's
family accustomed can be implemented in daily life. Nursing interventions that can be done for the diagnosis of
self-care deficit are one of them is 6-step handwashing. in this study conducted with Mr. H's family is effective in
6-step handwashing successfully increasing the knowledge and practice of 6-step handwashing in Mr. H's family,
who now routinely wash their hands in 6 steps correctly. This shows the importance of 6-step handwashing
education to improve family health.
